Strong advection of warm air around the side of a persistent block, and probably some descent at times leading to adiabatic compression. -- Freddie Bayston Hill Shropshire 102m AMSL http://www.hosiene.co.uk/weather/ https://twitter.com/#!/BaystonHillWx for hourly reports |

All-day sunshine also helps a bit. One June, about forty years ago, temperatures on the north coast were in the low thirties with minimum temperatures in the low twenties. Pictures in the media here of people sunbathing at midnight in north Norway whilst we had rain and northerly winds with temperatures barely into double figures at times. -- Graham P Davis, Bracknell, Berks.
