Jethro Tull-ish?

Are you sure? Compare you youtube video with this -

Not from the links I gave admittedly. I was, well still am, a huge Jethro Tull fan. There's a couple of tracks on the 1st 3 Daft Monkeys CD (OOmim) which are very reminiscent of the 'Stand Up' JT era, and others of a 'Songs of the Wood' type. I think when you hit 60 you can see the influences of earlier music more, having lived through more of it!

In the unlikely event you're interested, email me and I'll send you an mp3 track or to to show what I mean.

Graham

The Hammond organ always does it for me...any band sporting one I tend
instantly to like...

If you are not a Red Dwarf fan you will have no idea why I find that so
funny.....

Oddly enough it's one of the comedies I genuinely couldn't stand despite most people loving it. Repeating 'smeg' losing its appeal after the 2nd time around...

I presume that you are implying that the Beatles did not write any

music which satisfied those four criteria.

Have you listened to Blackbird, The Long And Winding Road, or Michelle?

(To name three off the top of my head.)

If not, perhaps you could - and then enlighten us as to which of your

Not the Beatles, please, not the Beatles! The most over-rated group in
the history of music!

Compared to whom?

Please give examples of under-rated groups in the history of music.

I thought that some episodes were very cleverly done, but that was down
to the scriptwriters.

However, Craig Charles continually banging on about curry, lager and
guitar playing was akin to listening to the conversations in downbeat
pubs every Friday and Saturday night.

This song from The Rimmer Experience was one of the highlights
http://youtu.be/r-ZiI3iVgpM (and no, it is not as musically nuanced as
anything written by Brahms)

I have a friend like you around the age of 55 who never liked the Beatles but worships the pretentious Bob Dylan. He almost hates stuff like Charles Aznavour with the chanson as much as he hates the Beatle. yet when I told him that Bob Dylan had said one of the best performances he'd ever seen was Charles Aznavour; well that disturbed greatly to say the least . The Beatle were great if anything underrated but there was a snobby younger group who detested them preferring stuff like Led Zepplin graduating to Tom Waits and the like. For me no other band in history has ever written so many songs that never once sounded the same.

A rather depressing number of patronising posts in this thread, everyone's entitled to their

own taste. Classical music is not inherently superior, though fans of it
seem to consder it such.

Yes, it seems close to snobbery...

It is superior and has nothing to do with snobbery.
Beethoven and Mozart are the very peak of Western art.

The above is an opinion not a fact, though.
