Crash, bang, wallop. Another damp squib or a complete washout in your backyard. Penny for 'em, Lawrence?

Well, many happy returns for when that day comes. As someone who will reach sixty-one early next year, I can sympathise with your worries about the threat of leaky pipes. However, as a form of reassurance, my father is 90 and as far as I know, he is still in control of his bodily fluids, so I am remaining confident for many more dry years. I just wish that my eyes would make up their mind whether they want to actually see anything in focus or not. |

Yes, I've noticed that instructions are printed in a more blurry font recently, too. ![]() -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham |

I'm the same but also use a second pair for TV and a third for distance. As one eye continues to deteriorate, I may have to think of getting monocles instead. I wonder if they are cheaper than specs, they ought to be. ;-) -- Graham P Davis, Bracknell, Berks. Mail: 'newsman' not 'newsboy'. I tried varifocals, but I dont like the way they seem to go out of focus around the edges. |
