Much warmer than forecast in SE

It is currently 27.3C and still climbing. Since 10am there has been a SE'ly breeze here and almost constant sunshine. Am I right in thinking that the higher temperature is thanks to the low level flow off a hot continent - or is it just sunnier than predicted?
