Another pleasantly warm day, with sunny spells. Cloud has come & gone, but always thin near the coast. As a result the temperature has been fluctuating between 18.0C & 20C, the peak (so far - it may well rise a bit yet) 20.3C.. Very little breeze today, it feels quite muggy.
Last 5 days:- 12th Max 20.5C Sunny periods near calm along the south coast. 13th Max 22.7C Unbroken Sunshine 14th Max 22.0C Unbroken Sunshine - but rather a fresh offshore breeze PM. 15th Max 19.9C Sunny Spells & patchy cloud 16th Max 20.3C Sunny spells & patchy thin cloud Surf has been coming and going. Flat today http://www.sennen-cove.com/today2.htm , Should be nice off the rocks tomorrow morning, after a visit to the dentist I deserve to relax. I'll take the thermometer down & check the sea temperature a foot or so below the surface. Wind has tended onshore along the north coast throughout recent days. This has meant quite a difference in north coast /south coast temperatures at times, close to 5C on a couple of occasions. Anomaly so far (based on the full month mean) +0.6C Penzance, +0.7C Culdrose, but +0.1C Camborne . Highest Max so far this month 22.7C Pz, 22.0C Cudrose, 20.5C Camborne. Graham Penzance |

And he
Last 5 days:- 12th Max 24.3C DP 16.3C Unbroken sunshine 13th Max 25.9C DP 18.1C Sunny intervals all day 14th Max 24.9C DP 17.4C Sunny intervals all day 15th Max 22.4C DP 16.9C Sunny intervals all day 16th Max 21.8C DP 14.9C Sunny intervals all day The high(ish) DPs hint at why it's felt quite humid here and the nights for the last few days have been warm too. The garden plants have been lapping it up. Tomatoes have been outside since the beginning of May and the first truss of fruits are now ripening. The runners have reached the top of their 8' canes and are flowering. Have been picking cucumbers for a couple of weeks. Chillies have now started to fruit. ![]() Surf has been coming and going. Flat today http://www.sennen-cove.com/today2.htm So flat in fact, that I rather like this from the Sennen Cove Diary http://www.old-boathouse.com/acatalog/Diary.html They say that if there are no waves on Gwenver then there is probably no surf in Cornwall. This will explain the presence of about thirty hopeful surfers well out the back of Gwenver all probably sitting on their boards and reading their waterproof Kindles. I explained this to a gentleman who had asked about the probability of waves today. I told him that snow was more probable or the likelihood of a discount from The Old Boathouse Stores. Graham (PS - Good to see some people are actually reading my weather reports!) |

The average daily max in June in your part of the world is around 19 or 20 deg so occasional days with 15 deg should be about as common as occasional days with 25. Nothing out of the ordinary. That may be true, but it doesn't stop me feeling cold when I'm outside with my shorts and t-shirt on! |
