Summer 2014, Laindon, S.Essex
 

After a pleasant June, a hot, wet and sunny July, August took a down
turn after the first week when ex hurricane Bertha reset the pattern.
After a very wet spell it remained cool and unsettled till the end of
the month. With almost half an average year's rainfall in these three
months it felt surprisingly dry. This is because most of it fell in a
few, well separated individual days and at night or the early hours.
Being generally quite sunny my abiding feelings about this summer was
that it was better than average.
