One of my favourite things in Meteorology/forecasting is model resolution and its effects.
Great example this morning - if I'm not wrong - of the effect of resolution.. Compare the 25km GFS snow depth for the UK with the 4km UKMO EURO model: http://expert-images.weatheronline.c...13000_2800.gif http://expert-images.weatheronline.c...13000_2800.gif Interesting how the resolution of the EURO allow it to pick up the line of Cheshire Gap showers down towards East Anglia and their associated accumulation - and also another line of showers further south (is there a Pembrokeshire gap like there is a dangler)?!
