I told them not to hold their breath but hold their hats! Gale all night and currently here. MWS 34.5KT today so far and highest 10min WSW 41G60KT. Good old Pennine lee wave. Most things permanently tied down in these parts because of it! Ken Copley Teesdale 'Hold on to your hat' says the display on the VP2 console. Quite right, gusts to 60mph this morning, roof tiles chattering with expensive sounding noises. Been like this for a couple of days now with a couple more windy ones to come, apparently. Yellow alerts for Monday and Tuesday-but not today, which seems odd. -- George in Swanston, Edinburgh, 580'asl www.swanstonweather.co.uk www.eppingweather.co.uk www.winter1947.co.uk |

Beautiful fast moving low stratus here in Haytor, far better than that nasty clear bitterly cold polar air with snow showers a few days ago. Also look at NW Scotland I bet they are enjoying the lovely mild conditions topping up their water butts as a bonus watching the streams and waterfalls from rain and snow melt cascading off the hillsides. And then there is NE England with a wee breeze to ease the heat. But hey, the SE and London are in for a scorching day, so that's all right then! :-) Will Oh dear poor little Willie. Yah boo I want snow, snow, snow, SNOW ! Else I'll cry. Is nobody taking notice of your Arctic Haytor reports ? Got to get attention some way, haven't you. It's approaching mid-March the season is changing, what else do you expect ? I'm surprised your part of Arctic Devon isn't providing your precious snow. If not take a flight to somewhere genuinely snowy, build yourself an igloo and stay there. -- Reg |

Stop picking on Willie! He's just a bit insecure and needs to show that he's better than the rest of us without actually being better. Feel a bit sorry for him if you want but picking on him isn't the answer. He won't read this for obvious reasons, Ughhhhh!
