Notes
=====

* This appears to have been the wettest August on the central south
coast of England since at least 1960, exceeding the next highest here
since then by 28mm, 233% of average, with twice the average number of
days with rain = 1mm. The second half of the month had rain totalling
112mm, 12mm higher than any complete August hereabouts since 1960.

Bournemouth Hurn has reported 137mm rain for August, 245% of average
and said by the local BBC South Today weather presenter to be a record
for the month - but the length of record was not stated.

The good news is that yesterday it was unusually easy to dig up part
of my normally hard and stony back garden! Squelch.
