Feels a bit chilly too here in Wanstead out on the bike this morning, Ken. Currently 14.3C with a dew point of 10.7C. Overnight minimum was 8.7C. Not the sudden change back to summer that September in recent times has brought.. Yet.

Coolish but dry (hoorah!) with a fair bit of sun down here the last 4 days.

At Bosullow, 4 miles NW of Penzance on the moors
31st August 10.8 hours of sun
1st September 10.7 hours
2nd September 7.6 hours (more on the coast http://www.sennen-cove.com/imsep15.htm )
Sunny periods again today. The thin Sc off the north coast readily dissipating to sunshine on the south coast. Back to T Shirts at the Minack. http://www.minack.com/a-living-theatre/webcams/

Temperature approx 16.5C now, which is cool but not many places in the UK are currently any warmer. Near 14C on exposed north coast clifftops. (The advantage of having nearby coasts facing in all directions.)

Virtually no swell now with that high stuck in mid Atlantic, and little hope until Monday/Tuesday as the high slips more over the UK and there's a low in Atlantic once more. In fact the chart for Tuesday looks ideal for us fair weather people, light warmer offshore SE winds and a long period wave ( see the period chart for Tues/Weds http://magicseaweed.com/UK-Ireland-M...hartType=PERPW ). Now the schools are back it's possible to catch a wave without the fear of decapitating a small child on the way in, something health & safety really don't like. Also, it's now possible to park at Sennen, something that's been virtually impossible since mid July - even on the bleaker days.

I like the big seasonal nature of life in Cornwall, but after August it's always good to have the old place back.

Oh, the beach in the background of the stage webcam is not Porthcurno, but Pedn Vounder - a nudist beach. Back in the 70's it was well worth a visit for the stunning scenery. Now the only nudes tend to be gays with piercings - not quite my taste.

'70s - those were the days my friend, we though they'd never end

I once rescued an Australian lady from that beach who had got stuck in a
rip and was panicking as the rip was taking her very quickly out to sea.
That was about 10 years ago - I'm not gay and not pierced.....

Yes, everything has suddenly gone very quiet around here. The roads are
once more fairly empty and you can park near the beach/anywhere again.

A bit more cloudier here than recently but still bright with sunny
intervals occasionally. Feeling a lot cooler after the warmth of the
last few days - maximum of 16.6C so far today.

The sea is flat, flat, flat. Not even a ripple and absolutely gin clear
because of it. The beach has very fine sand and it is easily kept in
suspension by the bigger waves and sometimes takes a couple of days to
clear completely. The sea has been calm for several days now, hence the
very clear conditions.

Don't know what you're complaining about Ken. Light wind, bit cloudy this morning, decent sunshine this afternoon, 20c and dry.
Oops, nearly forgot, I'm in France.
Looks like max 12.4 at home and about 4mm rain, so not great.

DM. Not in Langtoft. Lost in France.

When getting some supplies this afternoon I overheard a conversation
about people having to put their heating on today as it was so cold.

They're a soft lot down 'ere in the tropics of the Devonshire south
coastal hinterlands.

Heating not needed in this house (currently 22C indoors) though it is a
very well insulated house that even in winter is toasty.

I mist admit though, it did feel cool outside this afternoon despite the
sunshine (maximum 16.6C) as the normal high humidity has been replaced
by someting much drier and hence the DPs only around 11C as opposed to
the usual 15C to 17C. It makes all the difference.
