Fascinating, I didn't think it would be long before the Express latched onto the N Atlantic SST anomalies.

It's not even funny anymore.

This time though it's even more frenzied than normal. Nothing less than a full blown repeat of 1962/63.
Of course this is what we should have had last year but for the 'lag' effect. I wonder how many winters they will spin that one out for?

And what does one find - totally predictably? It was written by Nathan Rao and he quotes
James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather :-((

Forecasts based on a stopped clock is right twice a day. Odds marginally
in their favour this year and it may well be colder than the last four
so will be hailed (by themselves) as a remarkable success!

Yes, and got them completely wrong:
"Temperatures in the Gulf Stream - the warm ocean current which runs up
the east coast of America - have plummeted over the past year."
Temperatures in the Gulf Stream are actually well above normal.

Usual ******** from Rao and Madden.

When was the last time that they didn't forecast a severe winter? Do
they recycle the same story every September?

It's like people who won't change their lottery numbers. They think if
they change it will happen and they won't get the credit for the
brilliant forecast!
