Dave, S.Essex If I thought that this was the start of the BBC treating meteorology as a serious scientific subject rather than just entertainment I might be interested but, for the moment, no thanks :-( -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org |

I wonder why the BBC feel the need to duplicate it. -- John Hall "Honest criticism is hard to take, particularly from a relative, a friend, an acquaintance, or a stranger." Franklin P Jones |

Weather Underground has been doing it for years - part of the reason they got bought by The Weather Channel. Which in turn is part of the reason IBM has bought parts of the The Weather Channel. Big Data looms large in the future of many spheres, and meteorology is one of them. Crowd sourcing is part of that. The BBC's scheme is a simple take on this. Stephen. |

Cloudy Temp 12.9c Pressure 1013mb ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- BBC want to be seen as interactive. It is trying to appease its audience by inviting them to comment on the weather. Are they opening themselves to abuse about the weather forecasts? It all seems, and probably is trivial, and not for the likes of us me thinks. Hopefully it won't make this ng or any of the other weather related forums redundant. There is a wide audience out there who might like to comment on the weather, so we shall see the level of the postings in the fullness of time.
