BBC Weather Watchers censored me
 

Signed up to BBC Weather Watchers for a laugh.
I chose Wayne Dwops as my nickname.
It worked well for my first report.
Then overnight some BBC boffin saw it and when I went on, there was a message saying the nickname broke their rules and I must choose a new one.
So being of sound mind and good humour, in the nickname box I typed Wayne Dwops
again.

It has been accepted for the last couple of days, so either the BBC police have not seen it yet, or there is just one person checking the nicknames without a sense of humour.

Perhaps that might be the reason. Although you do say 'nickname' so that
suggests you don't.

way offensive or controversial.

AFAIK you have to register.
I don't see why they can't just do what web forums to and let you browse
the posts as a 'guest'. Then if you want to contribute you need to register.
That's how everybody else seems to do it!

I wouldn't bother. The reports are a hotchpotch on a map. there is no time
control so you get reports 3 hours apart. Some of the temperature reports
look like they were done with a mobile phone app (i.e. battery temperature).
There is no quality control
unlike WOW. It's a BBC gimmick - forget it but do have a laugh if you wish.

This is the world we live in now and its not just the BBC. I recently commented on a yahoo news items and was censured for copying and pasting the cords from the said Yahoo article. That's how mad it is . The BBC censured me last year for using in a demonstrative way words highlighting the content of one of their programmes yet the same BBC has no compunction when their so called alternative comedians use every expletive under the sun on programmes like 'mock the week'.

Curiosity got the better of me and I registered. It is a bit of a
'mish-mash' of reports caused by the time difference between reports as
you say and especially in a mobile situation like this you can't really
get a clear picture of where it is raining, but you can
always look at the rainfall radar for that :)

The main feature seems to be the photos and that's fair enough but some
people have simply Googled for a photo of their conditions as exactly
the same shot appears at different locations!

You should get yourself to Princetown though as there is some very
interesting weather there. At 10.39 this morning there night-time snow
showers with a temperature of 10°C......
