Default West Cornwall - Massive Sea Pics

Well, conditions were more extreme than I expected. For the 1st time ever I had to beat a retreat from the harbour car park. The spray from the waves coming over the headland was such it wasn't so much like being under a waterfall, as being hit be repeated walls of water. The big sets were way 30', and the wind was still gale force

Still - some pics, mainly from a somewhat more sensible spot, taken at half tide! http://www.easterling.freeserve.co.uk/stormfeb.html My favourite is the top photo of the breakwater - it is a big structure, so how high is that wave approaching it!

Well worth getting absolutely soaked for.

Nice one Graham.
It's been quite bad here as well, I counted 2 twigs on my morning walk. I had to be careful or I may have tripped over.

In a swell the waves come on the road at Colwyn bay I was cycling along the rail as every one fell in front of me. When i got to the end and turned around my mate had been hit by almost half of the following ones.

I asked him why he didn't just cross the road. I forget what he said now but I think it never occurred to him. Either that or he wasn't able to believe it.

Can you imagine anybody that dawlish?:
"Ooh! that was wet. I wonder what will happen next?
Ooh, that was wet.
Ooh! I don't believe it.
Ooh!
Hey Mike! Let's go the Ooh!..ay"

I think he was thinking: "If I hunch up it will miss me."
It certainly went around him.
