At least in rural east Scotland. Best I've seen in years - mainly green but easily noticeable to the naked eye with little adaptation.

mainly green but easily noticeable to the naked eye with little adaptation. Trevor Near Dundee Bah! As soon as I read your e-mail I shot out, leapt into the car and headed for my favourite aurora-viewing hilltop. Stopped in the layby, wriggled into my ski-suit because the temperature was below freezing, and was about to get out of the car when I realised that there was complete cloud cover and it was snowing heavily :-(( So I turned round and came home, hoping that the snow wouldn't turn to freezing rain as I headed back down the hill to the main road. Nevertheless, thank you for the notification, which was very kind of you. Anne In Moray |

The far side of the estate is in complete darkness, so guess there's yet another power cut up here. Nothing unusual in that. But what is unusual is the sight of snow flakes drifting down in the light of the street lamps outside.. Yuk!!! jim, Northampton |

Trevor Near Dundee There's a piece about it in this morning's Telegraph, with a photo taken an Bamburgh in Northumberland. According to the article it was visible as far south as the Midlands. -- John Hall "Honest criticism is hard to take, particularly from a relative, a friend, an acquaintance, or a stranger." Never seen an aurora, still patiently seeking those nacreous clouds. Despite being very close to the urban-rural boundary this is a very well lit spot at night. Even the nearby ski-slope on the Pentlands is lit up like a christmas tree for much of the evening. But.. we did have snow cover at 0900 today. -- George in Swanston, Edinburgh, 580'asl www.swanstonweather.co.uk www.eppingweather.co.uk www.winter1947.co.uk |

There was a photo from Oxford on BBC Breakfast this morning but can't find it on FB. Sorry about that, I'm sure Col would've loved to have seen a link it ;-) -- Graham P Davis, Bracknell, Berks.
