Charts analysed are for T+96 hours - 12Z Saturday 11th October 2003
unless stated. UKMetO: SLP: http://www.wetterzentrale.com/pics/Rukm961.html Low pressure (995mb) lies over Eastern Scandinavia, with another low (985mb) close to the south of Greenland. High pressure (1045mb) lies well to the northeast over Siberia, and sends a ridges southwestwards across Southern Europe and into the Atlantic, with part of this ridge ridging into the UK. Winds across the UK are moderate northwesterlies in the north and east, becoming light in the south and west. Many parts will become mostly fine and dry, with showers confined to the northeast. Temperatures will be close to normal in many parts. Beyond this pressure builds over the UK and settles over the North Sea and Scandinavia as we head into next week. Therefore, the UK lies under warmer south/southeasterly winds with a good deal of fine weather for most parts. GFS: SLP: http://www.wetterzentrale.com/pics/Rtavn961.html 850hPa Temperatures: http://www.wetterzentrale.com/pics/Rtavn962.html 2m Temperatures: http://www.wetterzentrale.com/pics/Rtavn965.html Low pressure (995mb) lies over Northern Scandinavia, with another low (985mb) lying well to the west of Scotland in the Atlantic. High pressure (1040mb) lies well to the northeast over Siberia, and ridges strongly southwestwards into Southern Europe, where a secondary centre (1025mb) lies over Southern Italy. Winds across the UK are mostly light, and from a westerly quarter. Many parts will be mainly dry and bright under a ridge of high pressure. 850hPa temperatures range from –2C over northeastern Scotland to +6C in the south. Forecast 2m temperatures range from 10C over central and northern areas to +15C in the south, but I suspect these are being underdone. Beyond this pressure builds over Scandinavia, leaving the UK under warmer southeasterly winds with a good deal of fine weather for most parts, with temperatures set to reach the low 20's in the south. DWD: SLP: http://www.wetter.com/home/img/sat/g...071200_096.gif Low pressure (990mb) lies over Northeastern Scandinavia, with another low (990mb) lying to the south of Greenland in the Atlantic. High pressure (1020mb) lies over Southern Europe and ridges into the country. Winds across the UK are moderate northwesterlies in the northeast, becoming light elsewhere. Many parts will be mainly dry and bright, with showers restricted to the northeast for a time. Temperatures will be close to normal in many parts. Beyond this pressure builds strongly over Scandinavia, meaning the UK lies under warmer south/southeasterly winds with a good deal of fine weather for most parts, but perhaps cloudier in the far west with a little rain. NOGAPS: SLP: http://www.wetterzentrale.com/pics/Rngp1201.html 850hPa Temperatu http://www.wetterzentrale.com/pics/Rngp1202.html (T+96 Charts Unavailable again tonight, so T+120 charts analysed instead) High pressure (1030mb) lies slap bang over the UK. Low pressure (990mb) lies to the south of Greenland in the Atlantic. Winds across the UK are light and variable. Many parts will be mainly dry and fine. 850hPa temperatures range from 0C in northeast England to +5C in the southwest. Temperatures will be close to normal in many parts. Beyond this pressure continues to build close to the northeast of the country, meaning the UK lies under warmer south/southeasterly winds with a good deal of fine weather for most parts. JMA: SLP: http://www.wetterzentrale.com/pics/Rjma961.html 850hPa Temperatures: http://www.wetterzentrale.com/pics/Rjma962.html Low pressure (995mb) lies over Northeastern Scandinavia, with another low (985mb) lying to the south of Greenland in the Atlantic. High pressure (1040mb) lies well to the northeast over Siberia, and ridges strongly southwestwards into Southern Europe, as well as ridging into the UK. Winds across the UK are moderate northwesterlies in the northeast, becoming light elsewhere. Many parts will be mainly dry and fine, with showers in the farnortheast continuing for a time. 850hPa temperatures range from –2C over northeast Scotland to +5C in the southwest. Temperatures will be close to normal. Beyond this pressure builds strongly close to the northeast of the UK, but feeds in cooler easterly winds with plenty of fine weather for most parts. Canadian – T+72 hours for FRIDAY: All charts: http://weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/data/m...ast/478_50.gif Low pressure (986mb) lies close to the north of Scotland, whilst high pressure (1024mb) lies over France. The UK lies under moderate to fresh west/northwesterly winds, strongest in the north. Rain or showers are likely in the north, with the driest weather always likely in the south. Temperatures will be close to normal in most areas. Summary: Fairly good agreement again tonight that high pressure will build close to the northeast of the UK over the weekend and Scandinavia early next week, turning the winds into a warmer south/southeasterly direction with many parts turn mostly fine. The main exception is the Japanese run which prefers to feed in a cooler easterly wind early next week. However, the general theme is for conditions to settle down and warm up somewhat, and this may well be our "Indian Summer." |
