In message ,
Colin Youngs writes UK rainfall totals in 24 hours to 18.00 UTC on Thursday http://tinyurl.com/ahsgjwh Tiree and Wittering 0.4 mm, Baltasound, Aberdaron and Coningsby 0.6 mm, Valley 1 mm, Lusa (Skye) and Mona (Anglesey) 2 mm. I was wondering. Can even the most accurate technology really measure rainfall to a tenth of a millimetre? I know that was what the sites reported, but I can't help being sceptical. But I suppose that, for amounts of less than a millimetre, rounding up or down could be just as misleading. -- John Hall "One can certainly imagine the myriad of uses for a hand-held iguana maker" Hobbes (the tiger, not the philosopher!) |
