Here in Coleraine, there was a brisk SE to E wind last evening and into the early hours, but now it is almost a calm as the low centre passes directly overhead. It should pick up later from the W, but there are no signs of really strong winds on the southern flank of the low. -- Mike Coleraine Posted 14/11/2003 09:34:40 UTC Seeking information about the Internet and the way it works? - Subscribe to news:uk.net.beginners My aurora images here http://www.mtullett.plus.com/29a-oct |

I think it was Carol Kirkwood at Mumbles - claimed she had recorded a 70mph gust Had a gust here to 30mph at 2am this morning, average at the moment is 15mph - gusting to 22mph South to South West direction, nothing special -- Paul Crabtree Brampton N.E. It's not here in Fife - breezy not windy though the clouds are moving across quite quickly. It was stronger last night and it rained, and must have picked up after about 9:30pm when my plane landed at Edinburgh. It was a bit bumpy on the descent, but the wind would have been not head-on but on the starboard bow and it was a small-ish plane - a Bae146 or an Avro RJ-100. I can't tell the difference between them although I gather there are some beyond the name. Also the direction has switched. -- Surfer! is it windy with you? No I didn't have beans las... Oh, you mean the weather. Last night was nothing out of the ordinary (F5) but since about 0900 it has been picking up. F6 but still S'ly. I expect it to rise more as the wind bcomes more SW'ly and drop back as it approaches NE'ly. Time scale seems to be the problem, this depression isn't moving very fast. -- Cheers Dave. pam is missing e-mail |

We had Southerly / S.Westerlies F7 to F9 overnight, plus gusts, moderated slightly just now about F6 to F8. Anticipated it'll pick up again this afternoon as the wind veers West or North West. Some trees down and the overnight ferry crossings were cancelled though one did sail this morning. -- Bill |
