Hi Alan
Just 2.4mm thus far since midnight here. The northern side of the Clyde
valley sits in a marked rain shadow caused by the Southern uplands when
southerlies come into play, and today has been a perfect demonstration of
this so far.
Quite spectacular radar images all morning, you might be under-looking Loch
Goil and Loch Long before long, well, maybe not ;-).

Indeed - we're less than 30 miles away and we've had 21mm since
midnight. 10mm of that fell in an hour between 0812 and 0912.

Just over 2mm here in Brampton - Rain shadow from the Lakeland fells !! -
Started raining about 0930hrs, but by 11am the sun was out ?? - checked on
the radar and the rain appeared to split as usual around this area. I have
just checked the radar now 1400hrs and shows a huge areaof heavy rain just
to the north, not sure if it will drift this way or not. Weather warning in
force for this area up to 40mm of rain ( BBC news 24hr, but no warning on
the Met Office site) - we will see !

Windy - yes, gusting to 35mph recently- lights flickering

Hi Steve,

Snow should fall down to around 2000ft as the wind veers.
Keep us informed.

I note also some very strong gusts in Cumbria at the moment.
Carlisle 69mph.
Could be a very interesting evening ahead.
Dare I say blizzards in Wanlochhead ?

Rapid change in weather under way here now. From virtually calm one minute
to an F5 breeze the next (and rising). Rain now torrential (most recent rate
36mm/hour).
The trend bucks can be seen here

Some tail, some sting!

The sting in the tail we had was really in the clear gap from the well
defined cloud over the east side of the country and the patch over
N.Ireland.

The F8 (Gale) to F9 (Severe Gale) didn't last very long, just about an
hour. It's all quiet now at F5 (Fresh Breeze) gusting to 25mph. Got a
bit blowy on the top of Great Dunn Fell 1500 report of F11 (67mph
sustained), 1600 F10, This is in keeping with GDF being generally 2
beaufort numbers higher than us.

As for snow, might get sleet, it's to warm at 5C and fairly steady for
anything much else.
