Cartoon in the Eye this week implying Michael Fish has been sacked. Is this
true? Private Eye doesn't care about weather forecasters but it is obsessive about the media. The rather laborious message of this cartoon is that no-one is (at present) allowed to be gloomy at the BBC. Therefore The Fish, as the harbinger of gloom, albeit only meteorological, will have to go. PE (er, not you, Philip) was just using The Fish as a vehicle for its editorial message. Not one of Ken Pyne's (the cartoonist) better efforts, I feel, but like most cartoonists he was probably told what to come up with. Tudor Hughes, avid Eye reader, Warlingham, Surrey. |
