As we slide into the umpteenth mild winter and there is not much to excite
our members (if you'll excuse the expression)
what do we think of those newspaper daily weather reports from abroad
faithfully churned out every day from such exotic far flung places as
Bogata ,Caracas,Edmonton (probably not the N.19 one) Leipzig, Marrakech,
Santiago, Taipei, to mention just a few.
I suspect they were some of the favourite holiday haunts of the pre war
newspaper editors perpetuated by generations of
cub reporters who aren't too sure where Southend even is..
So I propose a competion should be held through this NG to come up with new
resorts much more in keeping with the todays travelling public needs .
I 'll kick off with Verkhoyansk, always wanted to go there .............

Happy New Year to all

PS Please God , let it snow for Danny

Yerss, cold enough, but it's inside the Arctic Circle and would be
dark(-ish) all day at this time of year. What about Ojmjakon, 63° 16' N, a few
hundred miles away. Just as cold (Jan mean about -50°C) but very sunny.
Population about 6000, most of whom seem to be employed in keeping the road
open. Wrap up well, as my mother used to say.

Listen. Just answer Ron's question, Victor!
Victor. I'm getting very concerned you seem to be on an exponential curve
of cynicism lately. You've been spending far too much time over on TWO.
Their pre-pubescent witterings have exhausted you. Tell you what though the
18z GFS. What a corker! well at least until the 00zGFS.
Now Ron where to go? So many places and all have their moods. I know 'Machu
Picchu', before Barrets homes turned up.
Seriously, so many places but are they out side off the old Fleet street map
of "Iron Curtain" Europe. Not many really. I know. The Queen Charlotte
islands just north of Seattle, Vancouver. Wet, lush and mysterious. A bit
like my third girlfriend and guess what her name was?
Mavis.

I suggest Vostok Antarctica. Should sort out even the most avid cold/snow
lovers of this NG. Latest 5 day forcast for the middle of summer shown
below:

Wed
-9° | -29°
Overcast

Thu
-7° | -29°
Clear

Fri
-9° | -27°
Partly Cloudy

Sat
-9° | -31°
Scattered Clouds

Sun
-9° | -20°
Partly Cloudy

And if that's not enough for anyone, a cool -89.4°C has been reached in
winter (July 23 1983, when IIRC, we were in the middle of a heatwave). Bit
dark in the winter, but never mind it's more than made up for in the summer.
