Default UPDATED ADVANCE WARNING OF SEVERE WEATHERUPDATED

ADVANCE WARNING OF SEVERE WEATHER

Here is an ADVANCED WARNING of Heavy Snow and Blizzards affecting Scotland,
North West England, North East England, The Midlands and East Anglia AND
Lincolnshire.
Issued by the Met Office at 09:34 on Wednesday, 31 December 2003.
This is an update to the warning issued at 0956 on Tuesday 30 December 2003.
For inquires regarding this warning - please contact your regional Met
Office.
Transmitted by the Met Office. at 09:34 on Wednesday 31 December

For inquires regarding this warning - please contact your regional Met
Office.
Transmitted by the Met Office. at 09:34 on Wednesday 31 December

A deepening Atlantic depression is now moving towards north-west Scotland as
expected, bringing frontal systems up against the cold air over the country.
The Met Office is forecasting that a period of heavy snow combined with
severe gale force winds will affect the higher parts of Scotland through
this afternoon and then the hills of northern England into the evening and
overnight. Moderate accumulations of snow are expected in places (10cm or
more) with drifting. Blizzard conditions will occur for a time making
driving conditions very difficult and dangerous in the run up to the New
Year celebrations. Some snow is likely for a time at low levels also. Higher
parts of the north Midlands will also be affected for a short time and there
is a low risk that parts of East Anglia and the south-east of England could
see some snow through the early hours of tomorrow, New Years Day, which
could lead to slippery conditions.
The snow will turn to rain later in all areas apart from over the highest
mountains of Scotland.

I wouldn't bother Neil. The charts running into January look pretty
boring and predictable, I'm losing hope once again.

They got the 10CM on the Lincolnshire coast right last week....but law of
averages suggests it had to happen one day!
