Does anyone know if the DVD on offer at Wetterzentrale is provided with
English? I dare say the stuff would be intuitive enough but for complete
wusamatter's like me it would be nice.

Hi Michael,

On the copy I have they are split into two folders :

Bodendruck 1899-1949
Reanalysis 1950-2003

The subfolders are then by year and the pics are daily gifs. There isn't any
text as such.

Hope this helps

If you get a reply in German that you don't understand, e-mail it to me and
I will translate it for you.

The website does not say how payment should be sent. No doubt you will get
a return e-mail telling you how to do this.

I just got a disk with an invoice. Very trusting of them. So far I
haven't been able to read it. I can't imagine it isn't formatted for
Windows. So what do I do? It looks heaavily copy protected. Thin outer
band of 1mm, then a 10mm band.

Someone tell me I don't have to load Linux or buy an Apple.

Works fine for me under Windows XP. No installation required. Just put
it in the DVD drive, let it autorun and all the files are then
available. It's a marvellous resource.

Just a thought - You're not trying to read it from a CD drive are you?
It's a DVD and therefore needs a DVD drive or a combi drive.

Problem sorted. I don't know what the matter was but just "run D: "
sorted it.

I'd expected it to open automatically on loading but I have or had most
of the media support severely restricted.

I'm made up with the disk. I'd love to have a version without the map
just the pressure lines as a screen-saver. Has anyone clicked their way
through the early charts? The slide show is too slow. Open the folder
for 1914 and start clicking.

The Azores High from May to August is amazing; with the Iceland Lows (or
should I say "North Atlantic Tempests"?) behaving like satellites
rotating about the pole.

I now want a world view. Where can I find one of them?
