18z GFS - Here we go again !!

Just looked at the set of charts from the GFS, initialised at 18z. A
complete change in emphasis from the 12z run with now a suggestion that cold
air will be advecting Westwards by next Sunday. Potential for some of the
white stuff on the back edge of the trough....

I know it's a long way off and we need some more runs from a number of
models to be more confident, but the roller coaster continues !!

I guess I'm being a tad optimistic this far out, but which other 18z run
datasets are available to render this GFS run an outlier?

Potentially severe weather in Greece, too, as of Wednesday, as very cold air
should be advected southwards along the eastern banks of the building
anticyclone. Some runs are also indicating explosive cyclogenesis over the
Aegean, that should bring in a lot of the white stuff and hard frosts in the
north. Bring it on, 18z :-)

Yannis, SE Athens

Su-) Honestly now, I'm not expecting any heavy snowfalls *in* Athens;
NWlies always spoil the fun here and a the fourth snow day of the season for
this suburb of the city should be nothing notable. Watch the Aegean isles
and Crete get the snow and the north get temperatures below -10C again :-(
