Default Just how many long rangers could get this wrong?

If this cold spell comes about and we do see snow in the south or down the
east
checking my log of all the forecasts there are many who could end up with
eggs
on there faces or a trophy. But as its still too early to say ill just give
a rough guide

These are the original forecasts made not the edited ones as the event
happens
as this would be cheating and NOT long range forecasts.

Andy : Predicting 21c this winter with an average jan
bill giles : from his original forecast wet and windy weather to push
eastwards across all areas of the country
charmhill : Jan month is likely to be a mild affair with strong southwest
winds taking charge
Codge : whole month to be mild and damp as the Azores High wins the battle ,
I expect the South to remain mild throughout.
David bbc boards : There is so much evidence now for a mild January... and
with no sign of any major cold to the east of us
du snow : Unfortunately, I think the end of January could be very mild as
the Euro high could persist
Ian Brown : Brief Northerly will show the block eroding or toppling by
Wednesday 28th.
Metcheck : January : Mild extremely mild in Southern and Southeastern areas
just after the middle of the month although was expecting two cold periods
in the month!
Mike : by the 21st we could be in record mild temperatures in the south, and
after that you can start write off winter for the south at least i think
paul barlett : snow in the south would be exticnt this winter due to
"scarcity of easterlies"
Toad : Original forecast went for a good cold snap for the uk but did change
to I believe the rest of January will be a complete and utter non event IMHO
TWO : Bleak mid-winter? Temperatures for January are currently running
around 2C above average, and with milder weather returning, it's possible
this will end-up one of the 20 warmest Januarys on record.

People that are close to be right with there forecasts are

weather forecaster : This should encourage more solid northerly blocks and
will at times spill cold air into the UK IMO.
Although he has predicted a cold northerly event and dream situations every
month since Nov
Tom Presutti : Strong northerly winds bringing a return to frost and snow
Will : gave a low confidence of a cold spell but noted none the less
