Just wondered if it it just me, but NTL this week has been poor on the news
service. It post messages that subsequently are 'sent items' but they never
appear on the newsgroup and sometimes just will not download at all..

Has any other NTL user suffered same ?

This is normal, hence why they were voted the worse news provider in a
recent poll in a pc mag!

Phil asks...

When I used to use my NTL account reading newsgroups was always patchy, and as
there were times when I had to make sure I'd read all messages in one
particular group, I used AOL in conjunction with the above news reader.

I know they carry USW, and it is free to use... All you have to do is
register.

ntl: are currently testing a replacement news server, and are
also upgrading their mail servers this week, so we should see
some improvement soon!

The binary news service is poor but there is now an NTL news server which is
reserved for text messages only which works well in my experience. The poor
pereformance was my reason for moving to the German service.

I can't really fault ntl's broadband service, but their news server(s) is
and has been a joke for years. I use news.cis.dfn.de and cannot fault
them.
