Greece warming up
Hallo everyone.
Temperatures have been quite high during the last days throughout the country and this is expected to be one of the warmest Easter Sundays in 20 years. Lovely weather today in Athens, with a few high clouds that are now clearing away and temperatures reaching a lovely +20.5C plateau. Most Athenians have left the city for the Easter holidays and it's wonderful to stroll around the city or sit for three or four hours and enjoy a coffee outside. Some of yesterday's maximum temperatures: SE Athens: +21.2C E. Thessaloniki: +22.6C Lamia: +25.6C (second warmest in Europe?) Larisa: +23.4C More warm air is being advected from Libya; hence, temperatures are expected to reach 28-30C in a few areas of continental Greece towards Easter Sunday. Things could get a bit uncomfortable in northern Crete, where the island's high mountain chains favour the Foehn effect (roast lamb under +33C there?) cheerful Yannis, SE Athens +20.5C, RH 45%, SLP 1019.1 hPa http://dias.aueb.gr/~ikarag/2004/april.html |
Greece warming up
Must admit I wasn't sure about that '34954 Svetlograd(134m) Russian'
maximum of 25.9°c, but a couple of other locations in the same area were in the lower to mid 20's so I didn't discard it. Spain and Portugal have fallen away now as Greece warms up as you pointed out Yannis.
