Ladies & gentlemen,

For a couple of days I can't reach the following sites:

http://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/tc_pages/tc_home.html
https://www.fnmoc.navy.mil/PUBLIC/OTIS/otis.html

Have they gone off line? My browser supports 128 bit encryption, and
all recommended settings (SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0) are marked, so
that shouldn't be the problem.

Mazzel & broge / kind regards, Evert Wesker

No problem to reach them from here, so they aren't off-line.

Grtz,

..... just tried both (Saturday/1830Z). The first one I got straightaway
(after answering 'yes' to the questions secure access etc.) The
second one drew a blank the first time, but was ok about 2 minutes
later.

I know the US Navy are 'protecting' their sites a bit more these days
.... but so far have not had too much trouble with same.

Martin.

I'm in the same position as you Evert. I cannot get to it via my normal
adsl IP address, yet can on dial-up with another ISP. I asked my main ISP
about this and they indicated a range of their IP addresses had been either
blocked by that site, or by DNS servers upstream of that site. I emailed
the webmaster who indicated there was no blocking on his part. It appears
to be a DNS problem in the USA. I still have no direct access but can get
there using my ISP's suggestion, to use an anonimising proxy.

If you go here, you can enter the URL at the bottom and that will let you
see it. What it does is seemingly change your IP address to one acceptable

During periods of heavy traffic, those sites impose restrictions on
access by non- .mil sites...

Imagine the odds of the same notice ever turning up on the Met Office

again over the years. But it's still depressing from a British POV.)

Um... is that a reply to my post? If so, what relevance does it have to
