Default Not a chance to see the lunar eclips....

..... in Holland tonight, as occluded front passes ; but what about parts
of the British Isles?
I suppose you have more chances of clear spells, particularly Ireland,
Scottish westcoast, North-west England and Wales?

To all the lucky ones: enjoy the sight :-).

Not much chance here at the moment. But we do have a saying, 'If you don't like
the weather, wait half an hour'. Maybe there will be a gap later on - there have
been quite a few during the day.

Hi Wijke,
nice little trough with moderate rain passing over here at the
moment, hopefully followed by a clearance from the west as it goes dark
best regards,
Alan

I certainly anticipate being able to see it under clear skies.

But how do you get two teenage boys and an 11 year girl old to be
interested?

Jack, just wait patiently .... not a sign of interest with my kids, either
astronomy nor meteorology, until the eldest was 16 years old. He suddenly
grasped the telescope and told me he finally wanted to have a good view on
Jupiter .... leaving me startled!

So keep hoping :-)

Thanks for your encouraging words, Anne. But I suppose its a Scottish
saying -- four seasons a day in Scotland :-) -- but in our flat country
instability often simply means: rain and lingering clouds :-s

A glimpse of clear spells seen at the west-Kirby marine lake. Hopefully not
too late...

Always the way Wijke as the trough is moving east more slowly than I thought
it would.
It is still overcast with rain(2110 BST) and no sign of a proper clearance
here yet so it does not look good,
best regards,
Alan

Well my teenage son had the chance to join an astronomy club at school - he did
GCSE astronomy at 14 (passed) but he has no *real* interest. If I mention that
there's something of note going on in the heavens, he'll show interest but he
isn't pro-active about it. When we had an aurora one night, he was less than
impressed. I blame Hollywood special effects ;-)

Saying that, he was enjoying watching some storm clouds in the distance when he
got home from school, with mutterings about "Just like the sky over Mordor" ;-)

Cheers.
