Large positive N Atlantic SST anomaly
What is that likely to mean for our weather?

Had a look today at the FNOC site - OTIS SST anomaly page: https://152.80.49.210/PUBLIC/ I am amazed at the extent of the North Atlantic/Arctic SST anomaly - I can't remember having seen it so extensive before. Given the world map I wonder if it means that for some reason the North Atlantic drift is penetrating deeper and more systematically into the area? James -- James Brown I have the impression that the flow is slowing but the warm salty water is no longer sinking. Perhaps it is too warm. See http://64.246.48.81/wz/pics/Reursst.gif I would be interested in what others think. Cheers, Alastair. |

That's one for the forecasters, not me.

I will give you a backcast though.
With a large area of warm water in the GIN and Barent Seas the UK temperatures will soar in the north of the country, especiallly Scotland and record tempeatures will be recorded in the Shetland Isles. Is that any good :-? Cheers, Alastair. "Alastair McDonald" k wrote in message ... That's one for the forecasters, not me. Cheers, Alastair. "Shaun Pudwell" wrote in message ...
