Unforecast rain - Leeds
Some rain in Leeds (Harehills) between 8am and around 8.40.
It was wet also in Ilkley this morning too. Now we have had all these assurance about how dry it is (and the soil on my allotment is fairly dry, so no complaints) and there is a fairly big High over us. There was only a chance of showers forecasts for the south. So any ideas where this rain came from? Dorian Speakman. |

Don't know Dorian, it was unforecast, yes the high is there and the rain was heavy, very large spots in city centre at 8 am. Caught every one out. But the 07:55 forecast on Radio 4 said " Its even raining in Leeds as we speak, but it wont last" and it didn't. I think any meteorological bookie would have given odds of 1,000,000 to 1 on rain this morning in Leeds. Strange, but that's British weather for you. Regards BrianT Dorian Speakman. |

Have you noticed how often Leeds moves to near Scarborough when we hear on a forecast " Cloud from the North Sea will move a few miles in land" or "it will burn back by mid-morning", but it never does till about 5pm only to roll back inland that few miles again at 6pm. No idea, but I did notice a shower pass close by here, yesterday evening. -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham |
