My data is only back to Oct 96 and I am hoping I thrash my previous 31.9 Good chance, 33 predicted here. Apparently it was 36.4 in 1990 Joe, Bedford. |

Why not do the same for sun and heat? Malcolm Well I for one always welcome the prospect of hot weather. I am just about to head off to our seaside cottage for a couple of weeks and I would vote for unbroken sunshine and daytime temperatures over 25ºC, with spectacular thunderstorms each night as soon as it's dark enough, but not long enough to prevent a good night's sleep. Why not do the same for sun and heat? -- Malcolm I only find heat a problem if the humidity is high which was not the case today with the RH value as low as 23% with a maximum of 29.9°C. The temperatures forecast undoubtedly will cause problems for some but warm dry weather is one of the reasons I like living in the south east. Why not do the same for sun and heat? Because it melts the climbs... Seriously, It is easy do do something about cold weather - There are only so many layers you can take off when it is foul like today. I would certainly feel guilty if I thought that the childish delight that I still take in snow could in any way influence the weather. Since the weather isn't going to change whatever my attitude, I feel free to enjoy it. Why not do the same for sun and heat? Because very hot weather, though of great meteorological interest, is too damn uncomfortable. It's easier to keep warm in cold weather than it is to keep cool in hot weather. BTW, if you look at the morbidity statistics, I think you'll find that nowadays there's a bigger rise in the death rate caused by extreme heat than by extreme cold. -- John Hall "Take the tone of the company you are in."
