I'm left wondering if you still have some 3rd party stuff causing pop

ups
to be blocked.

Think I may have worked it out.

It may well be your security settings in IE that is causing the problems.
From the top bar of IE, go to "Tools" "Internet Options" and then chose
the tab labelled "Security". Low down in the little window that appears,
you'll see "Custom Level". Click that and scroll down to "Scripting".

Are
there ticks in "Disable" for both "Active scripting" and "Scripting of

java
applets". If there are you could change them to "Prompt" or "Enable".

When I put ticks in "Disable" I found that site didn't work.

They're all set at 'enable'

At this point I have to admit defeat and suggest you post about your
problem to one of the Microsoft public news groups. This seems the most
likely candidate:

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser
