No it comes from the Met Office, but the feed that drives the web server is not the same as what gets sent to external customers such as avbrief. The problem was reversed the other week, no website data was available however Avbrief was receiving the data.. There is no problem with the radar network, it is simply a comms problem at the met office with this particular data feed. If i was avbrief i would be asking for a REFUND !! On the 16th June there was a DNS problem at Met Office which affected the whole website not just the Aviation section. Was it this date you were referring to ? Joe |

Most things the Met Office sell are expensive :-(( but thats a whole other
story... Paul "Mark B" wrote in message ... Perhaps the MetO have unplugged their end because of the interesting weather ... (only joking) thanks for the reply PJB. I would too if I was AVBrief - as as far as I am aware the data they purchase is rather expensive. Mark. "PJB" wrote in message ... "Mark B" wrote in message ... PJB - how does that work ? MetO restricting data to its purchasers when interesting weather around to make people subscribe to them rather than AVbrief ? How can MetO be updating if problem is their end ? Mark. They are two different feeds of data. |

It seems very suspicious to me that the link is broken at such a critical
time. Again it has gone down since 07:45 08/07/02 today. We go for weeks without much happening of interest and just as the curtains open the lights go out. Is this a ploy to get people to subscribe to the Met Office radar @ £57!!! AvBrief Alerts / Notices (last update: 07/06/04 17:40Z) There is a break between the UKMO and AvBrief at present. radar images and some other visual data may be missing for a while A very digruntled user. I wasn't aware of any radar data problems last night or yesterday come to that. BTW the radar data forms part of the MetO *Aviation Briefing* Service. There's quite a bit more to it including the high resolution 5min sferic data from the ATD system, worth the sub alone IMHO. I suspect the free hourly radar is adequate for most people anyway. Jon. Jon,
I've been considering the Aviation Briefing service - but have 2 queries ? (1) Is it paid yearly or monthly ? (2) It says in T&Cs that you have to be a pilot ? Mark. AFAIK when I signed up, it asked why you wanted the subscription - I put something along the lines of 'interest in weather' and they let me sign up..... |
