{WR} 10-12 mm hail , Thunder & lightning charlton SE London.
Hi
Just been to Charlton SE london, and skies opened with a huge deluge at 11:15, followed for about 90secs with Hail, up to 10-12 mm with the stones I picked up. Not a lot of Lightning or thunder. This cell headed N/NE from there, so look out north london and Essex, its headed your way! Regards, Keith |

Passed overhead between 11.45 and 12.05, although still raining heavily now. Pretty lively with quite a bit of thunder and lightning so it must have developed since leaving you. First one I'd class as a "summer storm" this year. - Tom Blackmore, SW Essex. |

Here in Coulsdon 5mm of rain in 10 minutes from 11.50 hrs with frequent
thunder mostly from lightning high in anvils. The storms are quite fast moving which is just as well for there was a very torrential burst within the shower for a minute or so. No rain at all here in Warlingham, 4 miles due east, but much faint rumbling most of the morning, and very dark at times. The high-level lightning at some distance seems a good explanation for these bass-enhanced rumbles. Much brighter now (1212Z) but a lot of medium cloud, and fairly high-based Cu starting to pop up again. Hang the washing out? Not if Jay Wynne's sketchy remarks mean anything. Hmm. It seems the remnants of this plume is passing over the SE at present giving these conditions. ATB, Joe |

...... leysdown, sheppey ..... Good name that. I went down Lye Close Lane. (Which sounds better than it reads.) The morning weatherforecasts on the BBC all rushed past anything interesting to do with meteorology in order to tell us what sporting fixtures are on the cards -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |
