Streaming Cam Soft/hardware sort of explained
For those that asked - running a streaming cam is way different to uploading
static jpg images via FTP to a website. I have a home network of 4 machines plus a laptop - going ADSL via Plusnet utilising a Buffalo Wireless Router and X Modem - one machine is then used as a webserver - using cam image webserver software see http://www.icode.co.uk/ for much more detail on their products - the camera is a Panasonic Digital VideoCam - I use a Icatcher video capture card that comes with the webserver software - the PC is very much stand alone on the Network for security reasons - that's all the easy bit - the hard bit was the configuartion of the NAT forwarding on the Ip address so you can see it across the network again more info can be found on the site above. Hope that acts as a starter - it is quite technical, but the end result is well worth the effort!!! http://www.seaspritesports.com/weathercamframe.htm and now I'm back on ADSL the refresh rate is so much better Regards WC |
