We never hear it mentioned these days. Anybody know why?

It no longer contributes to the MetO network. I am not sure why. (tongue in
cheek)

Thanks for that, Paul. I thought that was the case, but like you,
couldn't for the life of me think of a reason. After all, the site itself
looks satisfactory, from what I have seen of it.

There is still a picture of the station on the BBC Hereford and Worcester
site.

The last but one paragraph is unchanged from a couple of years ago:-)

PS who nicked the sun here in N.I.? I've forgotten what it looks like

.... I don't want to go into details, as I was intimately involved when
the observations stopped: but to make it clear, Mr Damari exercised his
right not to provide the Met Office with his data - we simply wanted to
ask why his readings were on one occasion *significantly* higher than
others, when we (in NMC) could see no good meteorological reason for
same. You can draw your own conclusions.

Martin.

The information I have is that the Met Office did a thorough data check on the
site and it was thought that the data coming from there was a little on the odd
side to say the least.

An amateur site just a mile or so down the road was measuring temperatures 2-3c
lower in hot weather and 2-3c higher in cold weather. You can make your own
mind up as to why this was occuring but the latest I hear is that the observer
Mr Paul Demari had his card well and truly marked by the Met Office and the
data has since been registered as null and void!

What, the entire Barbourne data series has been expunged from the official
records?

Do the BBC know this? He is a local forecaster for them in the Worcester
area.

Col gasped: What, the entire Barbourne data series has been expunged

from the official records?

Well, they couldn't just throw out the naughty bits, could they? It would not
then be a dataset.

Naughty bits?

That phrase has now gotten me thinking of the Kenny Everett Show, not to
mention Cleo Rocos!
