T-storm just passed through Fleet, Hampshire. Not much t&l but when the
power blipped I turned off the computer. Forgot to check time started
but its 3:25 and the rain is easing. Rain got rather heavy for a time.

.... just got back from Camberley (NW Surrey), and the skies certainly
looked threatening towards your direction .. on arriving back here in
Bracknell (1430Z/ 3.30PM local), and rain has just started, with distant
thunder heard. Gusty, warm winds.

Load of T&L in Crookham Village, some of the L less than a few hundred
metres away.

.... absolutely amazing: lots and lots of activity all around us - some
intense rainfall has been reported nearby, but here in Bracknell,
although it's been 'rumbling' off and on since 1430Z (now 1545Z), all
we've had is a little rain - dampened the ground for a short time, but
that's gone again, and the latest radar image seems to imply that the
'worst' has gone to the north of us.

How could we miss all those white pixels? In my view, when the Met
Office left the old building on London Road, they left behind some sort
of 'force-field' generator which has deflected any significant rain
away. Talk about Moses parting the Red Sea waters!

.... very 'heavy' here in Bracknell now. Dew Point at 18Z (7pm local)
18.7degC, a shade *higher* than the same time yesterday, with
(currently) little wind under 8 oktas of cloud. Had a look at the dew
point plots and there is some lower humidity (i.e. dew points) to the
east in the Greater London basin, but further east, they come back up to
17degC. A fairly definite easterly being drawn into the storm complex
(just to our north - see Norman's post), and I *think* the flow has
backed enough to bring ex-North Sea air into the Thames Estuary, rather
than the higher dewpoint stuff presently. However, on looking at the
24hr sequence of the GFS dewpoint output, can't see a real 'air-mass'
change so we've got this high humidity for a little while yet (perhaps
to Thursday at least).

Don't worry Martin 'weather' seems to miss Exeter as well.
On several occasions I have driven back home from work in winter in
northwesterlies with 6/8 sc and 8 degrees and bone dry in Exeter to arrive at
home with 1cm fresh snow and 2 deg C.

Just keep thinking about 7th May 2000 now that was some storm in Bracknell :-)

I was watching the 2Km radar display all afternoon and it seemed like the
Farnborough cell decayed as it moved north but then explosive development
occurred just south of the Chilterns. I think you were unlucky.
