I see a lot said about MSC's in this weather group, not really sure what
they are or do but I think Les shows a lot of interest in them. Came across this website: http://www.meteoliguria.it/fronti_new.html And it shows MSC's are these the MSC's Les talks about? Regards BrianT [Leeds] -- 'A wise man never plays leap-frog with a Unicorn' - Barry Cryer |

If so see http://homepage.ntlworld.com/booty.w....htm#Mesoscale I could be missing something but I don't quite see how the link you've provided relates to them. Jon. |

Some features on trough lines are marked as MCSs on this satellite analysis. Many thanks for posting this Brian as there's a link to BOLAM 21km model output inc an archive, with some excellent stuff. Les shld also find the 6.5km model output for Northern Italy interesting. BTW I see CSIP caught the early stages of the 22July small scale MCS (?)- http://www.met.rdg.ac.uk/%7Eswr00cjm..._20040722.html -- regards, david (add 17 to waghorne to reply) |

Fascinating, Northern Italy is something of a hotspot in summer, usw
stormchase tours from Milan to Bologna, anybody?? The composite doesn't show an mcs imho (but i could be wrong) The UK 'small scale MCS' sat pic is even more fascinating with the overshooting top and anvil shield - the radar cross section looks very similar to the zamg page http://www.zamg.ac.at/docu/Manual/Sa...CMs/Cb/key.htm i'll stick my neck out here - that baby was almost certainly an MCS... Next week: a tornadic supercell and superbolts clobbering football stadiums in Wearside (: Les -- Les Crossan, Wallsend, Tyne & Wear 55N 01-30W, Home of the Wallsend Stormcam - http://www.uksevereweather.org.uk "Waghorn" --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
