Default (WR) After the ordeal - Sheffield!!!!!

After all the overnight rain it was seeming to ease off for a while
here in Sheffield. Fire engines pumping out flooded buildings and
roads slowly started to become passable. Then the sky turned dark and
the rain started by the time I was driving towards the Totley area of
Sheffield the heaviest rain of the storms started to fall. The roads
become rivers and junctions lakes. Turned off the faster roads for
safety only to find parts of road surfaces washed away. As this
inbeded downpour moved away to leave steady moderate rain I overlooked
the woods behind Totley Park to see strange columns of steam/mist
rising through the trees. Many roads were flooded for a time with
standing water several inches and in places feet deep. The rain
continued till late afternoon when a clearance finally moved through.
The evening was calm and clear making in hard to believe the day's
rain.

Hi Simon,

A marked contrast to the beautiful Saturday I spent up in Dore with crystal
blue skies and high Ci (by Totley you mean the village next to Dore ?!). We
have had similar conditions to what you mention here today, I see Watnall's
total is 66mm for the last 48hrs.

Certainly a massive difference in the evening - do you know what the
rainfall totals for Sheffield were?
