Ill second that Brian, I have never before witnessed rain as heavy as this
in Leeds, my front lawn is under 1/2 foot of water and the drains simply
cannot cope with the sheer amount of water.
Reports are coming in that tarmac is being forced up on roads all over Leeds
as well.

Certainly a memorable night is this!!

Where R U Graham?. Do U know Rothwell? What a rain storm that was, just been
for drive. Roads flooded that I have never seen flooded b4. Manhole covers
out of there places and tarmac ripped up around them. Wow. Still thundering
but rain now eased off. Temp fell to 18C but now rising again, back up to
19C. Strange weather.

Pudsey (a storm free zone!) has had a bit of rain, but I've been watching the
lightning to the east and north...one flash was purple.

However the eye of the storm, as ever, has yet to pay us a visit here.

Sorry to hear that SRi, perhaps Pudsey is too high, try moving down to
Stanningley Bottom. This illustrates well just how local thunderstorms can
be, commiserations.

Hi Brian,

I live in the Seacroft area, East Leeds, i am only 100 yards or so from the
Wyke Beck that runs from Roundhay Park, and never before in 30 years have I
ever seen it as high as it currently is (i.e. a couple of inches from the
top of the bridges), further down from me, the beck has overrun its banks
and nearby houses are under about 1-1.5 feet of water.

I don't have a rain gauge, but looking at a plastic container that wos empty
before all this started i can guesstimate about 3-4 inches (80mm) in the
last 2 hours :S

As before, this is the most memorable rain I have ever witnessed in the 30
years i have been alive and lived in Leeds, amazing!!

Graham
