I always think of an Indian summer being a wee bit later than this....
often after a spell of autumnal weather..

Hang on a bit.. we have had the autumnal spell It was called July and
August...

Steve Jones :
I don't understand all this talk of an Indian summer for September.

Nor me, judging by the current cricket score

It
is still summer! At least till the autumnal equinox anyway.

That depends on where you live I think. To me (mid Wales) it always seems
like the Celtic seasons (where summer ends on 31st July - note the Welsh word
for July - Gorffennaf - literally means end of summer) get it about right.
