Thundery Thessaloniki, dry Athens
Good morning everyone.
Thessaloniki had its exciting moments during the last evening, as thunderstorms developed around the city and soon affected it. 80.3 mm at Kalamaria (eastern Thessaloniki) in a couple of hours, more at adjacent sites. IR satellite picture during of 0030 EEST: http://users.forthnet.gr/the/saroglid/photos/sat.jpg the centre of Thessaloniki from a webcam at 2237 EEST: http://users.forthnet.gr/the/saroglid/photos/camara.jpg Shortly before that, relative humidity plummeted down to 7% (!) here in SE Athens as anvils from distant Peloponnesian thunderstorms had joyfully decided to inhibit overnight radiation cooling over the city right from its start -and I'm still trying to understand why dew point readings dropped down to -12C from the cosy +10...+13C levels it had been persisting in.
