I don't know what proportion of the monthly mean that represents, but
here there has only been 22.5 mm, the monthly mean 1983-2003 being 68.3 mm.

Been dry up here too Warren.
Just 78.9 mm up to 1800 24th.
Estimated 1971-2000 average for Haytor is 129mm in September !

Working in Exeter and living here I have noticed how dry and sunny Exeter is
compared to Haytor. Exeter is usually 4-5 degrees warmer by day as well. Yes I
know it is all down to altitude but it is amazing how big the differences are.

Cheers,

Will.

Here in West Molesey, deep in the Thames valley in the driest corner of Surrey,
my total up to Sat. am. was only 13.9mm. I would not bet on having had more
than half a millimetre during the day either. The verdant green grass of August
is now looking rather prairie like again - the very lights rains this month
have simply not penetrated the rain shadow of one largish tree, still well
covered with leaves. So, I was out watering the dahlias today (and I have to
confess - relating to another thread - I then rather wimpishly put the central
heating on...).

Yes, the Azores High seems to have forgotten where the Azores are. :)

I think it has dropped anchor over us for most of the forthcoming
week. Hopefully it will not be too cloudy/dull, as they can be
fearfully gloomy days otherwise..
