Default 'Hurricane' Karl creates serious flooding in Sunnmøre region, Norway

One of the worst flooding events in my hometown. The worst as I can
remember...
At least 50 mm in 8-9 hours, I think.
Nobody hurt, as far as I know, but lots of water in shops, homes,
schools etc.

Looking at the pictures, I'd say there had been a lot more than 50 mm
unless the ground was already saturated. Maybe up in the hills there had been
a lot more.
Sorry I only have a very rudimentary knowledge of Norwegian, partly
through my Danish cousin-in-law, so I couldn't really read the text.
It wasn't really hurricane Karl, though, as it had ceased to be a
tropical storm quite a few days ago.

Yes, a station in the middle of the Sunnmøre area
(Dalsfjorden) had 89 mm. That was between midnight and
noon yesterday. The station nearest to Ørsta had 51 mm,
but its not situated on the north side of the fjord here, which
has mountains just over 1300 m that catches the clouds coming
from west/southwest. So it could have been as high as 90 mm
here too, maybe even higher, as the mountains here are somewhat higher
than in the Dalsfjorden area.
Also the ground was really saturated from heavy rains just a few days
ago, over 60 mm was measured a few km from here then.

ex-Hurricane would be the right term..
But it should be correct to say that all this started just west of the
Cape Verde Islands somewhere....
