Total wipe out, but then i found these postings on the side of the
screen

Oh? I had a look earlier on and it said there were 114,000 messages.

what is interesting is how little effect it actually has. Whilst the
automatics may have trouble sorting it the human eye can just skim down
through the downloaded headers and for some reason the 'real' ones tended to
cluster together.

And back to the real world, here south of Barrow in Furness there were a few
flakes at 9pm when I collected my daughter but nothing special. But the
weather is dry and clear and actually rather pleasant so I can cope

I noticed one spam post was sent by "me". Somebody has far too much
time on their hands to pick out my name amongst the countless posts
from the regulars!

Due to theft of my email address by spammers which I discovered about a year
ago from various UK universities by means of returned legitimate mail that
one of my email addresses was black listed by an anti spam service in the
US.

Despite my best endeavours and those of my university, the American prats
will not remove me from the list. These anti spam lists are not answerable
to common sense.

Nor will the UK universities change their blacklist providers even though
they know of the error. This annoys me rather more so.

regards
Don

Things seem to have calmed down now though.

I'm using NIN.
Is everyone else now seeing this?

Been happening all day since about 1.30pm. I must have deleted about

40'000
postings today!

Seems like I've been lucky? Just come onto Usenet, and all the spams have
gone. Sorry to here contributors have been having a torrid time. Hopefully
it'll not happen again for some time.
