I'm from Surrey and would use "settle".

In this neck of the woods we say 'lie' not 'lay'.

You must come from a grammatical neck of the woods, then.

I'm down the road (the A5/A5183)in Hertfordshire and I use settle.I've
lived within 15 miles of my current location for all of my life.

Yes, I'm a settler too, although I've picked up the others (well, lie, not
lay)
in my travels around the world :-)

Same at "home" (E.Yorks) and here in N.Wales - but also "stick" and "settle"
with occasional "hold".
