It seems the higher ground has made all he difference!!!

Still snowing here- nearly been snowing for 24 hours .

Slight thaw at about 1 o'clock got to 1.3 oC. Now freezing again and the
snow isdrifting again. The top roads will be tricky!!

1700Z WR: Catterick Garrison area, N Yorkshire : I drove in my 4x4 on
the Catterick Garrison to Leyburn road heading west and turned right
onto the Downholme/Richmond road. Slight covering on the road as far
as Downholme with up to 4ft of snow ploughed snow on either side. Then
drove over the army exercise moor road to Hudswell. Road covered with
snow to a depth of 6" and about 1ft of snow to drifts exceeding 6ft on
the surrounding moor.(Snowing all the way)
Heading back to the A1 via Catterick Garrison and Tunsall the snow
gradually turned to sleet then rain as altitude was lost. No snow from
Leeming Bar to A61
