Ken, Martin was having problems with NTL yesterday, it's not apathy as I'm sure he'll confirm when he can ! Currently +3.9°C on my dodgy thermometer. Light sleet/rain on and off, sun peering through at times. Don't think I'll be building my first Devon snowman today. There was light snow around 0300Z which did settle on grass/roofs. Reading all the reports it sounds like a nightmarish wintry mix; those battling to try and pin down the detail have my sympathy. If only it was, err, February (1963 !) Cheers, Jon. (20km NE of Exeter, gateway to Cornwall) Hi, Jon, Thanks for that. Yes, a nightmare to forecast today. Just a few hundred feet altitude is making a world of difference. I'm surprised so many on here have taken umbrage. Joe Public I can understand. It happens a lot in this area in marginal situations. Newcastle Weather Centre used to get the snowline pretty much spot on usually, but not always. They were forecasting from MSL to 3000ft - not easy. Seems to be around 500ft today. Currently -0.2C here at 850ft Best wishes, -- Ken Cook, Copley (5miles north of Barnard Castle), County Durham. 830ft http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/copley (MO climat. site updated before 10Z and 19Z daily) kencookATcopleydurham.freeserve.co.uk (All times GMT) |
