" LONDON, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Severe weather warnings were posted Thursday for eight regions in Britain as blizzards swept across the North Sea, The Times of London reported. Scotland was particularly hard hit Wednesday, but forecasters said Thursday should be the worst of the week's cold snap throughout Britain. Train service throughout most of England and Scotland has been in disarray for several days due to snow and icing, and while most major highways were moving slowly, many secondary roads were impassable. " (have most train services been in 'disarray'?) -- FAQ & Glossary for uk.sci.weather at:- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/booty.weather/uswfaqfr.htm |

Obviously the wrong kind of wet snow / sleet / rain / snow pellets on
the tracks A radio station called TalkSPORT the other morning had a massive rant about standards of driving in light to moderate snow showers, or slushy stuff that central london tends to get, unless the temp is really below freezing. If there was any truth to what i heard, probably just as well, a big snow event did not occur today in London |

You know i'm thinking about the field day that Bond and Gaze would have
had, if the Met O had gone for drizzle / sleet and we'd had a big snow event today. People are firing crap at the Met O - but was i imagining a fair bit of ramping going out by Mr Bond yesterday? I caught a couple posts of people saying they will pay attention to sites like TWO from now on LOL now that did bring a smile to my face. It wasn't just a few posters on TWO that doubted events this week The severe winter did not happen this year, maybe they will believe it will happen next year, when a 3/4 month forecast is issued on Dec 1st 2005 See how hard it is to get the current 3 to 4 day forecast right? Now think about three months of weather This is silly !! |
